Mineral Supplements and Their Relationship to Cancer
There are many mineral traces that have a close relationship to cancer. People living in countries that have selenium rich soils have a lower incidence of cancer. Selenium can be taken safely up to 1000 micrograms daily without side effects and it may help reduce the risk of cancer.
Calcium and magnesium are important for bones and blood. They also have been found helpful in preventing cancer of the bowel. Women should receive about 1500 milligrams of calcium and about 750 milligrams of magnesium.
Zinc and copper are known to have an interactive relationship between each other. If zinc levels are too high, you will probably find copper levels will be too low. Zinc can reduce enlarged prostrate glands and is helpful in treatment of prostate cancer.
Substances found in plants that are used in preparations for cancer treatment include bioflavonoids, soybean preparations, and mushrooms. Many other preparations can be used as treatment for cancer such as 714-X, Amygdalin, and many other herbs. Research should be done to research these herbs and the effect they may have on cancer treatments.
Many minerals and herbs are used as complementary treatments of cancer. No one is suggesting that you should forego traditional cancer treatment, but to use vitamins, minerals, and herbs to go with your cancer treatment.
Treatment plans for cancer should include many ingredients. Nutrition should be a part of any cancer treatment. Keeping calories at a low level to keep weight stable, eating foods high in fiber, and eating plenty of fish, fruits and vegetables is extremely important.
Second, you should try to cut out additives and salt. Avoid alcohol, smoking, and illegal drugs. Limit your exposure to the sun and avoid any excess radiation by limiting the amount of x-rays that are performed on your body.
Third, keep your home and work area clean. That means keeping your air as clean as possible and drinking the purest form of water you can find.
Another important ingredient in treating cancer is avoiding unprotected sex, and any other unnecessary drugs or hormones. Learn early warning signs like lumps in your breast, or unwarranted bleeding and irregular periods.
Most importantly, have a yearly physical. Remember, the sicker a person is, their body needs more supplemental nutrients. Complementary treatment with vitamins, minerals, and herbal supplements are not meant to take the place of conventional cancer treatment. Studies show that some vitamins and minerals can increase mood, reduce pain, and allow traditional forms of treatment to be better tolerated.
People who have combined conventional treatment with complementary treatment of high doses of ascorbic acid have responded quicker to treatment and have a higher survival rate. There is not any reason vitamin and mineral therapy cannot be combined with chemotherapy. The complementary treatment of vitamins and minerals may reduce side effects of chemotherapy and reduce its toxicity.
